SLC Reflection
Humanities
Ms. Terry
This year for my SLC reflection in my humanities class, I will be talking about our Socratic Seminar. For this project we were tasked with filling out a single piece of paper regarding the pros and cons of foraging and farming after doing research, as well as our personal beliefs on the matter. Proceeding, we sat in the middle of the room as one of two groups and were given 7 minutes to discuss whether we thought farming or foraging was better and why. I believe this task best helped my interpersonal 21st century skills due to the communication required with other students, it helped me understand their point of view and why they had the belief which allowed me to understand the idea from a different perspective. I feel proud that I was able to talk a little bit which I felt like was the perfect amount. I believe I could have talked more but I enjoyed listening to what other students had to say. I believe a difficult part of this assignment was trying to contribute to the conversation without talking over anyone else. I think I probably could have talked a little bit more and expressed my opinion on the matter because it differed from many other students but I also wanted to allow everyone time to speak. I think overall this was a fun project and I hope to do a few more this year.
